It was decided at the workshop in Uppsala in June 1998 to publish an interdisciplinary book on medical geology covering most aspects of this subject. Editor in chief is Olle Selinus. The book was further discussed together with Academic Press, USA at the workshop in Uppsala, Sweden in August 2000. Below are the contents of the book.
The book is sold out from the publisher. Some copies can probably be bought from Amazon and other webshops. The book will soon be reprinted. When that is done we will announce it on the website.

Audience of the book:
Junior to senior undergraduates and educated decision-makers.
Main objective
To emphasise the importance of geology in health and disease in humans and animals. The text was laid out such that the message is forwarded already in the introduction to be followed by exciting case studies catching the attention and interest of the reader. The lay-out is such that the reader can stop reading after the important message has been received and comprehended. Increasing complexity is then followed in various respects.
Apart from the introduction, summary and appendix the book contains 4 sections. Section 1 is a general background for geoscientists, medics and vets and are very important for all readers in order to be able to fully understand the rest of the book. The very heart of the book will be section 2, covering medical geology, the effects of our natural environment (geology) on health. There is also a chapter on anthropogenic sources in this section because it sometimes is impossible to discriminate between natural and anthropogenic sources. This chapter however only gives a broad overview. Section 3 covers epidemiology Section 4 covers the techniques and tools our different sciences use and which could be used by each other. There is also a large appendix with tables on guideline values, reference values etc
